how blood donation save my life

What does donating blood mean to me. This is my story on how donating blood has impacted my life. Blood donations goes all the way back when I was born three months early weighing 2 lbs. 10 oz. I don’t know how many times I had to be given blood to stay alive as a baby. I had to stay in the hospital for hundred and six day. With coming three months early I had to have two back surgeries before the big age of three. I just can’t help to think if it wasn’t for someone wanting to give blood at their local blood drive at school, at their local bank, or even their local Walmart people like me and other people would not have a chance. When I was six I developed scoliosis and by the age of 11 my scoliosis had and gotten pretty bad where I had to have my third back final back for surgery. I remember that my dad and my uncle had to go about a month before to give blood for me for my third back surgery. Once again I never really thought when I was younger when people give blood how much it helped me or other people like me. There was this one time where I went back to my back Dr. that he wanted me to go get some blood draw and I was so scared that the needle was going to hurt but like usual it was not as bad as I was making it out to be. The first time I got to give blood  I was in  the 10th grade. I was so nervous that my heart rate was so high that I was unable to give blood so I was very disappointed that I was not able to give blood that time. They came back in the spring semester in and I wasn’t as nervous as the last time and I was able to give blood for the first time. Through my high school career I was able to give blood three times. Even though I can only give blood ever wants and a while it is such in a reward feeling to think hey I’m giving somebody else a chance like I had. Looking back at it we take donating blood for granted because, we just say it’s just a little thing taking time out of my day or your day to help somebody and we don’t think about it. That is what I think such an awesome thing about being able to give blood because, how my story goes if it wouldn’t for one of my family members or just a stranger  saying I’m going to stop and I’m going to take some time out of my day to donate blood to help someone out. You never know when we just take the time to donate blood who you are helping. So if it was not by the grace of the good Lord and from family members to a complete stranger stepping up to donate blood I never would had a chance! My name is Tyler Keiss and this is my story on how blood donation has changed my life!
