Hello my name is Felisha Deffenbaugh. I got to Sulphur High School. When I first started to give blood I honestly didn’t know where it was going. Well this past year I donated blood and found out it went to my friends mom. As for her blood cell were not reproducing fast enough for her body to keep up and healthy so she was constantly sick. When I found out that I had the same blood type as her I went and asked how much blood can I donate and the people said you can donate two pints of blood. I then said I will do it. When they got me all settled in and I started to donate my blood for her. I found out thathat my body can only do one pint of blood. So knowing I can only do one pint of blood I still felt like a hero, because I was able to save her life. Now after that day I go and donate blood antime I get a chance knowing it can save someone elses life makes me feel great and like a super hero. Knowing that I can save everyone’s life with just a pint of blood. Has in courage me to donate. From the first time giving blood to this last time I gave blood has completely changed me. I feel like I care more about other people’s lives then just my own. I hope one day if I am on the verge of death that someone would donate blood or whatever it may be to save my life. Knowing what I know now I would put my life on the line if that meant someone can continue to live their life to the fullest. I love to go and donate some of my blood for someone else even though I may not know them. I said that it has changed me what I mean is I use to be shy and hate needles. When I would see needles I would get really sick and also be really pale. So the first I gave blood I about freaked out and that is when I sat at the desk so start my lab and make sure everything was okay; I was shaking like a dog and that is when Jarred asked if it was my first time I replied yes is it that obvious??? Jarred calmed me down and said it is all going to be okay and he helped set up my things to where I can give blood. When I sat in the chair I put my arm on the rest and the nurse put the strap around my arm and found my vain right off the bat, she asked her head boss to come feel my vains, then she did and her boss said wow are you sure you have never gave blood before I said I promise I haven’t her boss then said well you have great veins this should take no time. While I was sitting there I got nervous and squeeze the squishy ball a little to hard and it took maybe 10 minutes the most and I was done. When the nurse said you are done but you do know you squeezed the ball to hard that it is shaped to your hard. I said no I didn’t know that. After I got done I felt amazing and suprised that I actually did it, but I saw why is it important.
